Description: the fragments are observed in the synovial fluid. These fragments will vary in dimension. They have a basophilic coloration and the periphery is irregular. Their origin can be iatrogenic (the fragments can originate from accidental scrapping of the cartilage by the needle while taking the sample from the joint). This can also be an indication of degenerative articular disease. |
