Morphology: a neutrophil is considered as hypersegmented when the number of segments exceeds five. The hypersegmentation is an indicator of senescence. The corticosteroids, whether of endogenous or exogenous origin could contribute to this phenomenon. An idiopathic hypersegmentation could be observed in the horses. The functions of these neutrophils are not altered. |
