Description: transitional cells come from the renal pelvis, ureter, urinary bladder, as well as proximal urethra. These cells are found mainly in cluster. They are round and one could see their nucleus. They vary moderately in dimension. A typical cell has the diameter of about 2-3 red blood cells. They are normally found in small number in the urinary sediment. An increase in the number of cells could result from irritation caused by inflammation, calculus or even tumors.
