| L'étudiant en stage au service de médecine interne et cardiologie participera essentiellement aux activités de ces deux domaines, via le suivi des patients avec les spécialistes, la participation aux rondes d’enseignement et l’assistance à diverses procédures. La proportion de temps passé dans chacun des domaines variera en fonction du nombre de cas admis durant le séjour de l'étudiant.
En plus de se vouer à leurs tâches cliniques et d’enseignement, les membres du Service de médecine interne du CHUV sont à l’origine de nombreux projets de recherche réalisés en collaboration avec divers centres, organismes et étudiants du 2e cycle (internes, résidents et étudiants à la maîtrise). Ces recherches permettent de mieux comprendre certaines maladies du chien et du chat, de découvrir de nouvelles approches thérapeutique et ainsi de contribuer au bien-être animal.
Parmi les centres d'intéret de notre équipe, mentionnons :
- Cardiologie (maladies valvulaires, cardiomyopathies, échographie avancée)
- Endoscopie et radiologie interventionnelle (prothèses trachéales, lithotripsie)
- Hémostase et hématologie (état hypercoagulable)
- Maladies des voies respiratoires
- Maladies rénales (protéinurie, leptospirose)

- Investigation prospective du rôle de Leptospire spp comme agent étiologique dans l’évolution clinique de l’insuffisance rénale féline
