This animal had been treated with trimethoprime sulfate antibiotic. This can, on rare occasions, cause the formation of mushroom-shaped uroliths like those seen in this field. These crystals are often very elaborate. Aside from their association with antibiotic therapy, these crystals are of no clinical significance when found in the urine sediment.
