FIELD OF ACTIVITIES

The expertise of Dr Carl A. Gagnon led him to develop a research program focussing on the pathogenesis of the Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), responsible for the most important wastes of viral origin in porcine industry. By using classical virology techniques, molecular biology and immunology, combined to international collaborations, Dr Gagnon is working on recombinant vaccines against PRRSV. Also, a close collaboration exists between diagnostic service of the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal. Thus, the various tools developed in his laboratory will be used by this service.
